SUBJECT: 2013 SELECTION TO MIDWEST FESTIVAL (Wait list for Goalies at this Point)

We are looking for quality players who want to compete in this year's Hockey Night in Boston Ann Arbor Festival and Chowder Cup Jr. A Elite tournament. We will be selecting FOUR teams this year: Junior A Prospect team, 2 Major HNIB teams and a sophomore HNIB team.

The Midwest/Great Lakes Boys Festival will be June 21-23th at the Ann Arbor Ice Cube Arena in Ann Arbor, Michigan, a short distance from the University of Michigan and the home of the USA National development team. Players from across the Midwest to the Pacific Region will be invited. Last year we had 20 states and 2 provinces send players.

Our Junior Prospect team: New this year, the Junior A Prospect team will compete in the Chowder Cup Jr. A Elite tournament July 18-21 in Foxboro Sports Center, Foxboro, Ma - Iorio Arena, Walpole, Ma - and
Canton Sports Plex, Canton, Ma. In order to gain acceptance to this tournament we had to pre-select a few players. So the try-out will be only for those 13 spots not already commited. Players trying out for this team need to be Tier 1 Midget talented players looking to play junior hockey next year or already have played a year of junior hockey.

Our Major HNIB teams: We will select players for two Major HNIB teams, Great Lakes and Midwest. Players can come from anywhere in the country. Players should be top end HS players, middle AAA or top end AA players who are looking to attract attention from junior hockey and or Divison 3 or D1 coaches. All players must be recommended by their coach.

Our Sophomore HNIB team: This team is for players entering Freshman year of HS or their sophomore year of HS. Players should be able to play with the older players as we do combine the try-out with the older players. A Minor player can be chosen to play on the Major team if all 8 evaluator select him. Again, all players must be recommended by their coach.

Our College, Junior hockey panel discussion will return this year as it was a big hit among players and parents. All players will be invited to a panel discussion to learn about junior and college hockey preparation and the best process for highlighting your exposure and finding a team and or school.

Each team is selected by voting of evaluating coaches. Our HNIB staff will select a Junior A elite team, two major teams, and one sophomore team. Chowder Cup and the HNIB program continues to be leading scouting programs for boys to receive exposure to division I and division III college coaches as well as NHL scouts. Additionally, New England Prep Schools and Junior Teams consider these tournaments a must stop on their recruiting trail.

This year's coaching staff will be current and former coaches and representatives from USHL, NAHL, EJHL, Division I College and Prep Schools. At the end of the festival, our HNIB staff of coaches select the players by voting with the top players earning spots on the team.

OFF ICE NHL DRAFT COMBINE

We will once again do our off ice NHL Draft Combine testing. This was a huge success with players, parents and coaches. Each player has their scores compared with top NHL draft players as well as everyone else in our database. As our database grows, so does the feedback we are able to give players. Strength Coach Mike Casessa will again oversee the Compine Testing.
